St. Patrick's Day is an Irish national holiday observed on March 17th. It commemorates the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick, who is also the patron saint of the Irish diaspora. The holiday first became widely celebrated in the mid-17th century, coinciding with the flowering of Irish culture in the Tudor period. St. Patrick's Day has been celebrated in Ireland since the early 17th century, although it has roots in the pagan spring season celebration.

On Saint Patrick's Day, it is customary to wear shamrock, green clothing, or green accessories. Saint Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the  Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.  It is a big celebration in Ireland, spreading throughout the United States.

Celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals, Irish traditional music sessions, and the wearing of green attire or shamrocks. There are also formal gatherings such as banquets and dances, although these were more common in the past. Saint Patrick's Day parades began in North America in the 18th century but did not spread to Ireland until the 20th century.

Traditional foods will include corned beef and green beer. Lots of bars will across America have big celebrations with lots of drinks and green-colored beer.

If you want to join the fun, head out to these bars.
